The whole picture

Everything that shapes your learning

Paced holds the dimensions of real learning together — because what you're learning is only one piece of how you actually learn.

Paced
The foundational question

What does it mean to learn well?

Most planning tools show you what's due. Paced asks what's actually doable today. Because the distance between knowing an assignment exists and feeling ready to start it is where students get stuck — and where Paced does its work.

Grounded in Universal Design for Learning, neuroinclusion, the science of how memory and habits actually form, and a deep respect for how you live, Paced treats learning as a whole-life practice. Your energy, your sleep, your relationships, your real life — all of it belongs in the plan.

We also draw on contemplative and embodied learning traditions — because the academic canon is one wisdom, not the only one. Pacing yourself well is older than ed-tech.

Every student deserves a tool designed with them in mind from the start.

I

Make tasks startable

Starting is the hardest part. Paced breaks any task down to its smallest first step — the one you can actually do right now.

II

Design for all learners

Universal Design means every student is considered from the first screen — not retrofitted later. Paced works across different ways of learning, different schedules, different lives.

III

Life is part of learning

Grief. Illness. Family obligations. Sleep. These aren't interruptions to your study plan — they shape it. Paced makes space for them in the plan, not around it.

IV

Joy belongs here too

Wellbeing and learning grow together. Paced is built so they can — without one having to win.

Arrival Check-In

Every session starts with you. How you're showing up — energy, focus, headspace — shapes the session length, the task size, and the kind of support Paced offers next. Never ignored, never assumed.

Daily practice
🔮

First-Step Finder

Any task — an essay, a problem set, a thesis chapter — broken down to the one tiny action that makes starting possible. Not "write Chapter 3." Just "open the document."

Startable

Study blocks that fit your week

Scheduling that wraps around your real life — your energy, your sleep, what’s already on the calendar, what you need to recover from — not just what’s due. Rhythm over crunch.

Time & Scheduling
Your schedule, wherever it lives

Calendar integration that meets you where you are

Connect Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, upload a photo of a printed schedule, or sync from your LMS — Canvas, Blackboard, Brightspace — when ready. Or skip it entirely. Guest mode gives you the full experience, no account required.

🌿

Wellbeing Practices

Short, evidence-based practices — gratitude, strengths reflection, restorative rest, brief mindful pauses — woven into natural breaks in your study day. Less than three minutes each.

Weekly Re-pace

A short Sunday session that places your life events alongside your assignments — so the week ahead is designed for the human living it.

Planning

Progress Reflection

Not just tracking what got done — noticing what you learned about how you learn. Gentle prompts surface patterns, quiet wins, and the small evidence that the system is working for you.

Reflection
How we feel matters

How you arrive shapes
what you can do

When you're overwhelmed, learning is harder. That's not a personal failing — that's how learning works. Paced starts every session by asking how you've arrived, then adjusts what it suggests next.

This isn't a wellness add-on. It's how Paced works.

Grounded in research

The learning science flowing through every feature

Every feature in Paced traces back to a research base. We don't add things because they sound good. We add them because the evidence — across cognitive science, learning theory, and lived practice — says they work.

Our core question: what does it take for a student to live a good learning life?

I

Universal Design for Learning

Designed with every kind of learner in mind from the first screen — so good design does the heavy lifting. Accommodations stay welcome alongside.

Inclusivity
II

Flourishing & the Good Life

Drawing on flourishing research and contemporary wellbeing models, Paced designs for the whole student. Performance and living well grow together — we don't make you choose.

Wellbeing
III

Self-Regulated Learning

Students who plan, notice how they're doing, and continuously reflect go further than those who rely on effort alone. Every weekly Re-pace is built on this.

Study Science
IV

Cognitive Load & Task Decomposition

Working memory has real limits. Breaking tasks to their smallest startable step makes action possible — even on the days when you have very little to give.

Cognitive Science
V

Spaced practice & Active recall

The two most evidence-backed study practices we have — woven into your daily rhythm so they happen while you study, not as extra homework.

Memory
VI

Beyond the academic canon

Contemplative and embodied learning traditions hold knowledge about pace, attention, and learning that the lab is still catching up to. Paced honours this by listening, not extracting — and by keeping these wisdoms in dialogue with the science.

Multi-wisdomed
Built for every learner

A giant welcome
for all kinds of minds

Universal Design for Learning means you were considered before you arrived — so good design carries more of the load, and you spend less energy retrofitting your way in. Accommodations remain welcome on top, always.

👁️

Multiple means of representation

Information in text, visual, audio, and structured formats. Colour-coded with shapes and labels — never colour alone. Clear no matter how your brain processes.

🎯

Multiple means of engagement

Choose your entry point — start with how you're feeling, with what's on your calendar, or with the next task. Paced adapts to how you start, not the other way around.

✍️

Multiple means of expression

Log your progress by typing, speaking, or choosing from gentle prompts. Your reflection looks like you, not a template.

Start where you are

Your learning can
feel alive again

Start where you are — with the calendar you have, the energy you have, and the life you're actually in. No perfect conditions required.
